Following their sweep of the weekend with three wins over the Sydney Metro Blues, Jontee Brown of the Kilsyth Cobras has earned the Round 5 Player of the Week award.
With team mates like Tristan Knowles and Shaun Groenwegen usually taking up the spotlight, Brown took over in Round 5 to average a consistent 16.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.
The three victories helped Kilsyth race into third position on the ladder and they will now aim to consolidate a finals place in the final month of the regular season.
Beginning their weekend on Friday night, the Cobras looked home with a ten-point lead inside the last three minutes but were made to fight by Sydney Metro who finished the game on a 12-5 run.
The damage had been done though, with Brown recording five points, two rebounds and three assists in the final term which included making and missing free-throws on the siren to help clinch a 76-73 win.
He finished with an efficient 13 points on 6-8 shooting for the game to go with seven boards and seven assists.
The following day, the Blues took a five-point lead into the final quarter but Kilsyth put together a 22-9 fourth term to run over the top, 67-59.
Brown was again instrumental, scoring 11 points down the stretch to finish with 22 points on 10-14 shooting, six boards and two assists.
He played a crucial role at the defensive end as well, coming up with two steals and a block.
Sunday saw Kilsyth have less trouble, claiming a 17-point victory as Brown went on to collect 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists with zero turnovers.
The Cobras set up the win with a 30-15 second quarter and Brown was again at the forefront of that run, collecting eight points, six rebounds and two assists in the ten-minute span.
