Helping to maintain the Wollongong Rollerhawks’ unbeaten run to start 2019, Shawn Russell has earned the honours as Round 3 Player of the Week.

Beating the Kilsyth Cobras in their two-game series over the weekend, Wollongong have now made it nine wins in a row to begin the season and have moved two games clear on top of the ladder.

Russell recorded a near triple-double on Saturday night in their first clash against Kilsyth, collecting 19 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.

Wollongong only led by three points at half-time but pulled away with a strong second half to prevail 86-78 as Russell knocked down an efficient 9-14 from the field.

The Rollerhawks had things a little easier the following day but still needed to counter a four-point deficit at quarter-time.

They then moved in front by a point before going on to win 80-61 as Russell kept his foot on the gas with ten points and four assists in the final term.

He finished with 20 points, nine boards, five assists and a steal overall, shooting 10-19 from the field in another efficient offensive performance.

Shawn Russell Round 3 Stats: 19.5 points on 19-33 (58%) shooting, nine rebounds (two offensive) and seven assists per game.
