Backing up from team mate Amber Merritt’s award a fortnight ago, Perth Wheelcats’ Georgia Inglis has taken out the honours as Round 2 Player of the Week.

Averaging a triple-double across their three victories, Inglis put up 12.3 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.3 assists per contest to help Perth move to a 7-0 record and three wins clear on top of the ladder.

On Friday night, the Wheelcats visited the Sydney Uni Flames who were making their 2019 debut and after leading for the entire first half, the match went down to the wire courtesy of a 15-10 third quarter from the Flames.

With only four minutes remaining, Tracey Carruthers put Sydney Uni up by four but Inglis sparked an immediate response from Perth, recording a steal and an assist to Merritt on the following possession.

Inglis then secured another steal and scored herself and those two plays set up a 10-0 run from the Wheelcats as they went on to win 57-53.

Recording a double-double, Inglis finished with a stat-line of ten points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and four steals while playing all 40 minutes.

The following day, Perth ensured there would be no tight finish against the Sydney Metro Blues as they led by 11 at half-time and 27 at one stage before completing a 70-55 win.

In over 39 minutes, Inglis was again highly influential with 13 points on 6-11 shooting, seven boards and 12 assists while she made a major impact at the defensive end with a steal and three rejections.

Later that day, Perth took on the Red Dust Lady Heelers and notched a 73-38 victory with Inglis claiming a triple-double which had narrowly eluded her in the Wheelcats’ previous two encounters for the weekend.

After exploding out the blocks with four points, four boards and four assists in the opening term, Inglis only needed to three-quarter time to reach the triple-double milestone.

She got her tenth assist with 1:13 left in the period before pulling down a rebound a minute later, going on to finish with 14 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists.

Her tally of 31 assists for the round came with just five turnovers and it is that efficiency, in tandem with Merritt’s offensive capabilities, that has helped lead Perth to their undefeated start to 2019.

Round 2 Georgia Inglis Stats: 12.3 points on 18-43 (42%) shooting, 10.7 rebounds (1.7 offensive), 10.3 assists, 1.7 steals and a block per game.
