NWBL 2021 Updated Fixture Released

The 2021 NWBL season has been impacted by the Victorian COVID-19 lockdown meaning that the Sydney Metro Blue Hornets were unable to field a team for the duration of round one. This has meant that the whole season fixture has been redrawn to allow for Sydney’s unplayed first round games to be spread across the remainder of the compeititon. Sydney Metro Blue Hornets will play four games in each of the final three rounds to get through the traditional triple round robin format of the NWBL.

3×3 and Wheelchair Program Manager Priyanka Karunakaran has become accustomed to the new COVID normal, “while redrawing the fixture for the season less than 48 hours before tipping off round one was less than ideal in normal circumstances it is something the sporting landscape is getting used to in the current COVID climate.

We would like to thank all clubs for their adaptability and willingness to working with us on the redraw of the fixture and come up with a solution that still sees all 30 games played.”

The NWBL action continues this weekend with all five teams hitting the floor in Sydney.
