Athlete’s

Wheelchair Basketball is an inclusive sport for all prospective athletes with a variety of levels of involvement available. Involvement ranges from come and try sessions up to playing in BA’s national teams on the international stage at the Paralympics.

Grassroots

Grassroots activity including come and try clinics and competitions are typically run by State Associations and other wheelchair sports programs such as the Wheelchair Leagues Clubs. To get involved we recommend reaching out to your local club or state association.

Pathways

Basketball Australia’s Wheelchair Pathways program focus’s on working with those that are new to wheelchair basketball and helping find ways to connect you to local events as well as opportunities for participation in Basketball Australia’s pathways programs.

National Teams

As the NSO of Basketball in Australia, BA is responsible for all aspects of the Wheelchair National teams and participation in international competitions. In line with the IWBF (International Wheelchair Basketball Federation) age groupings BA oversees the following national squads:

Men

  • Rollers – Open Age
  • Spinners – U23’s

Women

  • Gliders – Open
  • Devils – U25’s

Volunteers

Sports rely heavily on the involvement of volunteers and we are always on the look out for people who are passionate about helping and finding ways to connect them to opportunities. Whether you like to be involved as an administrator, team manager, coach, official or one of the many roles that require filling within sport we would love to hear from you so that we can help you with your journey.
