2019 SEASON PREVIEW: SYDNEY METRO BLUE HORNETS

Last Year: 2 wins, 16 losses- SIXTH

Roster: Rhys Baxter, Taitum Brown, Jarrod Emeny, Kylie Gauci, Keegan Hyansuk Oh-Chee, Maryanne Latu, Clarence McCarthy-Grogan, Ben Meoli, Josh Meoli, Georgia Munro-Cook, Anderson Parker, Jessica Pellow, Jorge Salazar, Keltan Williams & Jeff Wright.

Fixture: The Hornets will travel north of the border for Round One’s cluster round in Brisbane. There, they will face last season’s seventh placed team the West Adelaide Thunder, before then facing the Red Dust Heelers, Perth Wheelcats and Queensland Spinning Bullets. With the opening round set to be a challenge, the Hornets will host their first home game in Round Two, when the Wollongong Rollerhawks come to town.

Overview: With the Hornets finishing just one game off the bottom of the ladder in 2018, the Sydney-siders will have some work to do to improve on last year’s effort. With freshly inducted Australian Basketball Hall of Famer Troy Sachs coaching the team, the Hornets will have world class experience at the helm.

One to Watch: Import Jorge Salazar will bring a wealth of experience to this young team. A former U.S. Marine Corporal, Salazar has represented the USA at the Invictus Games and at the Americas Cup.

Salazar will help lead the Hornets youngsters such as Taitum Brown, Anderson Parker, Keltan Williams, Jarrod Emeny and Maryanne Latu in 2019.
